We were initially called out to wire in a new kitchen following refurbishment. Upon commission of the new circuits we found that the installation was dangerous and in need of a full rewire. This was due to a cable condition known as ‘Cable Cancer’ which is a breakdown of the insulation and results in ‘Green Goo’ a fairy liquid type substance leaking out of the cables where the copper reacts agains the PVC. This affects cables manufactured between 1965 – 1971. As a result the whole property was re-wired due to poor earth readings. We replaced all cabling, accessories and installed a new MK 21-way consumer unit with lightning & surge protection.
